Gold Coast Museums

The Gold Coast War Museum houses the largest collection of armoury and military equipment on the Gold Coast.
Featuring an extensive collection including confederate and Nazi memorabilia, the Museum also sells a large range of militaria, from replica pistols and swords to medals and badges.

Presently honouring 33 Gold Coast sporting champions, the Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame is Queensland's first dedicated sports museum.
Among those honoured are motorcycle champion Mick Doohan, rugby league legend Mick Veivers, surf lifesaver Trevor Hendy, and world surfing champion Wayne 'Rabbit' Bartholomew. The hall houses an extensive collection of sporting memorabilia from as early as the 1930s and includes Queensland's only official 'Olympic Room'.
The adjacent Gold Coast Bulletin Historical Building showcases historical images of early Southport, Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta. Here, newspaper archives go back as far as 1885 and you can view examples of early newspaper printing technology.

Step back in time and learn about the region's early settlers as you explore historical buildings. One of the area's first pioneering slab homes is on display here, along with memorabilia and machinery dating back to the 19th century.

Browse the wide collection of maritime artefacts and research the lives of local pioneering families.
The Tweed Maritime Museum has more than 20 main display areas, as well as a photographic gallery located in the nearby Court House. Although some displays are of a permanent nature, other exhibits are changed on a semi-regular basis.

This tramway tunnel was built in the days of the Lahey's Timber Mill to transport timber from the surrounding area. It was used as an ammunition dump during World War II and was restored as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations.
