Visit the Hinterland Scenic Rim
One of the Gold Coast’s best kept secrets, the Hinterland and Scenic Rim is a region of lush rainforests, spectacular views, picturesque wineries, rustic villages and numerous walking trails.
Away from the rush of Surfers Paradise and the ‘tourist strip’, the hinterland is a laid back friendly place, full of natural beauty, and featuring an amazing 29 national parks and reserves.
The Scenic Rim is the remnant of an ancient volcano, forming the Lamington, Springbrook and Border Ranges, and the Nightcap and Mount Warning National Parks. One of the highlights, the Natural Arch, is a spectacular waterfall which cascades through the roof of a cave, which is home to Australia's largest glow worm colony.
Get back to nature, exploring some of the 300k of walking trails, discovering breath-taking lookouts, sparkling rock-pools or bird watching in the subtropical rainforest.
Step up the pace by abseiling from the rugged peaks, hang gliding from Mount Tamborine, or taking part in a horse riding or 4WD safari. The Hinterland has something to offer everyone.
Enjoy a leisurely day browsing the local arts and craft galleries, dining at a casual café or country pub, and sampling local wines at a boutique winery.
The region is renowned for a wide range of accommodation including quaint self-contained cottages, luxurious bed and breakfasts and welcoming lodges, ideal for a rejuvenating get away.
