Nearby Tallebudgera Creek offers calm waters and an estuary beach which is ideal for families with small children. Those with older children will enjoy exploring the rock pools, and can cool off with a splash in the waves at the main beach.
The beaches are lined with beautiful parklands with sheltered picnic and barbecue areas to enjoy, and beachfront cafes and restaurants in which to sample the local cuisine.
Take a walk along the esplanade, following the graceful Norfolk Pines along the beachfront and up the hill to the Burleigh Heads National Park. The park is a peaceful haven of windswept tussocks and ancient rainforest that harbours local wildlife and boasts spectacular views of the surrounding coastline.
The main street, James Street, has a charming small village feel, with shops and cafes flanked by distinctive pines and pandanus palms. Burleigh West boasts a large shopping complex and a booming industrial area featuring major exporters and outlets such as Billabong.
This enchanting holiday playground also offers easy driving access to major theme parks, sport and entertainment clubs, and other Gold Coast attractions.
